What Happens When You Visit.

The same care we bring to your website starts here.

Here is how this site works and how we handle a conversation with you.

The short version

This site's files come from its own domain.

Every file it loads comes from privacypigeon.com, and it sets no analytics or advertising cookies. There is nothing to accept or reject, so there is no cookie banner.

None
Analytics or advertising cookies. This site's code sets neither.

How it stays that way

Every release fails its build if a page asks for a file from another website, loads an analytics or advertising tool, or has a script that writes a cookie or stores anything in your browser beyond the animation's short note to the next page.

Check it yourself

  1. Open your browser's developer tools. On most computers, press F12.
  2. Choose Network and reload this page. Every request goes to privacypigeon.com.
  3. Choose Application, or Storage in Firefox and Safari, then Cookies.

Cloudflare hosts this site and handles each request, as our privacy notice explains.

Our own site, set out like a Pigeon Check. It describes what the site is built to do, not a dated check, and your browser can confirm it.

Browsing this site

Our site does not use advertising pixels, session replay, or Google Analytics. We do not set analytics or advertising cookies. Fonts, images, and site scripts are served from our own domain.

Cloudflare delivers and protects the site. It processes request information such as your IP address, requested page, and browser information for that purpose. Hosting and security services may retain operational records.

The animated city and pigeon on each page keep one short note in your browser's session storage as you move between pages: where the camera and the pigeon were, with small pictures of the last frame, so the next page can carry on from there. The next page deletes it as it reads it. It says nothing about you and never leaves your browser.

Check this site yourself

You don't have to take our word for it. On a computer, open any page of this site and open your browser's developer tools: press F12, or on a Mac press Option, Command and I together. In Safari, first turn on the developer features in Settings, under Advanced.

Choose the Network tab and reload the page. Every request in the list goes to privacypigeon.com.

To see cookies, open the Application tab in Chrome or Edge, or the Storage tab in Firefox and Safari, and choose Cookies. You won't find analytics or advertising cookies.

Our release checks refuse any page that loads a file from another website, and any script that writes a cookie or stores anything in your browser beyond that one animation note, so this stays true as the site changes.

Getting in touch

Our contact links open your email application. There is no inquiry form on this site. If you email us, we receive your address, your message, and any information or attachments you choose to send. Your email provider and ours process that correspondence.

We use project inquiries to reply, understand the proposed work, and manage our conversation. We do not add inquiries to a marketing mailing list or sell them. Please send only the information needed to discuss your project.

Pigeon Check requests

When you ask for a Pigeon Check, we load the public homepage you name in a new, empty browser, as a first-time visitor's browser would, and read its public privacy policy. Nothing is installed on your site and no password is needed.

We send the result only to the site's owner, or to someone the owner has asked to look after the site, and may first ask how you're connected to it. We keep the request and the result with our correspondence, and delete them if you ask.

Project information

Any access or information needed for a project is discussed as part of its scope. This site does not automatically inspect a visitor's website or look up their business. A Pigeon Check happens only when someone asks for one by email, and we run it ourselves.

Your choices

You can ask us about the information you have sent, request a correction, or ask us to delete correspondence. We may need to retain records relating to agreed work or business recordkeeping, and will explain that when relevant.
